DIY: Reupholstering A Footstool

This is one of the quickest projects I've done in a while! This cute little footstool needed some updating, so I decided to paint the legs and upholster the cushion to bring it up-to-date.

Here's a photo of it before, it was cute, with a floral pattern and natural wood legs - just not my style!

I removed the legs and sat them aside. After cutting out my fabric a few inches longer than needed, I started by placing the fabric upside down on the cushion.

Then I used sewing pins to gather the fabric on the corners to make a neat seam. Using my sewing machine, I zipped a few straight seams.

Next, I put the fabric on the cushion right-side up, and began stapling the fabric down. It's very much like wrapping a gift, you pull the fabric tight as your staple and work your way around, until you're finished.

Then I painted the legs using some matt black spray paint that I had leftover from another project.

After the legs were dry, I attached them back on with screws.

I think it's so cute! All in all, it took about an hour to do and a few dollars in materials. Thanks for stopping by!
