Christmas Home Tour

Each year I look forward to decorating our home for Christmas. It's such a wonderful time of year full of special moments that we hold onto all year long. The week of Thanksgiving I usually start putting out a few small holiday decorations (and my husband puts up the outdoor lights), then over the next two weeks I continue bringing things out of storage. It's a process, especially if you have little ones like we do. Trying to get anything done takes a lot of concentration and many attempts. I hope you enjoy walking though our home with me...

Thanksgiving Tablescape

This morning I did my grocery shopping for Thanksgiving, and along my travels to various stores I came across the most beautiful fresh garland from Trader Joes. It inspired me to create my Thanksgiving Tablescape.

Fall Tablescape

We live in the desert, so when the seasons start to change in the rest of the country and everyone is enjoying the gorgeous weather.....we all (try to) wait patiently for it to start to feel like fall here. I usually try to wait to start decorating for autumn until the middle of September. This year for fall, I decided to go with a slightly different color scheme than the traditional red, orange, gold and brown. I'm using white, light green, gold and cream.

Painting our Dining Room Table

I had been imagining what our dining room table would look like painted for about a month.

This room seemed dark and gloomy to me so I impulsively sold our old chairs one day on OfferUp. Above is a photo of what the dinning room used to look like.

Summer Home Tour

We've made so many changes to our home in the last couple years, I thought it would be fun to document our home in it's current state.

Come, take a tour of our home along with me...

Fireplace Update

I finally tacked a project that I had been dreaming about doing since we moved into our house three and a half years ago...

Here's a (blurry) photograph of the fireplace from when we bought the house in 2014. You might remember my posts from when we gave it a little facelift by white washing it:

Master Bathroom Remodel

Our master bathroom used to be one of the biggest eye sores in our house. It was old and outdated with a 1970's step-down shower (tan tiles with permanently stained grout...yuck!) and an oversized double vanity that I had tried to make tolerable with some pretty blue paint and new knobs.

The fire had caused some pretty bad water and smoke damage in the room and almost everything had to be taken out and replaced. Joe and I agreed that this would be a good time to redesign the room and really make it the way we wanted it.

Master Bedroom Remodel

We are very excited to finally be back in our bedroom! After the fire, and subsequent smoke and water damage we needed to almost gut the whole bedroom and bathroom. Which gave us the opportunity to design it to better suit our needs.

The room was pretty large and the bathroom was long and narrow. We decided to make the bedroom slightly smaller and give that extra square footage to the bathroom in order to add a bathtub and relocate the shower.

House Fire

As some of you know, on December 10th we had a house fire that was started by ashes from an outdoor fire pit. It was scary, hectic and heart-breaking. If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, you might have seen that we had just finished painting our house exterior in October.
So standing on the sidewalk watching the firemen put out the fire on our freshly painted house was very emotional.
