DIY Bench

My parents had this old wooden box sitting in their garage that they no longer wanted. And knowing not to throw things away before asking me if I want them, they offered it to me and I thought I could do something cool with it.

I thought it could make a fun bench seat. But in order to make it work I had to make a few adjustments.

First, I needed to trim off the small lip of wood that the lid once sat on.

And since we didn't have the lid for this box, I cut a piece of plywood to fit on top to hold the cushion.

I made a simple cushion by cutting some 5 inch thick foam to size and created a cover. I sewed the corners for a crips clean look.

Then I wrapped the fabric around the cushion and stapled it in place.

Finally, I flipped the box upside down and attached some new casters to raise the height and make it easy to move.

I love the way it turned out!

It's cool and a bit rustic, hopefully someone will see it and love it for their home! Come check out 3 Vintage Chicks on Cave Creek road, this and many other awesome home furnishings await there!
