Nursery Mural

We have three months until our little boy is supposed to be born, and I started feeling the desire to get the nursery ready. The room used to be our guest room and was already one of my favorite shades of blue (Seattle Haze by Valspar) matched with grey (Grayish by Sherwin-Williams), so we decided to leave it.

Reimagined Doors

One of the things that we could not wait to change about our house, were the doors! They are hollow, faux wood doors finished with a dark stain. And everything about them cries outdated and ugly! But not wanting to spend a fortune on new solid wooden doors, we decided to "Reimagine" the existing ones. Here's how they looked before...

Industrial Pendant Light

When looking for a light fixture for our "rustic nursery" I knew I wanted something used, not new and shiny. Which worked out great considering I also didn't want to spend a lot of money. Here's how we updated these old pendant lights.

Reupholstering A Rocking Chair

As we are planning for the arrival of our second baby, we have started working on the room that will be the nursery. My husband and I came across this great old chair at a garage sale.

Lamp Redo

I bought this cute lamp on sale at Target for $7, unfortunately my toddler liked it too and accidentally knocked it over and broke the glass.

Kitchen Tile Backsplash

As we are slowly chipping away at projects, our house is slowly getting closer to being finished. Well updated... is it really every finished? Not if you're someone like me who likes to change things :) This past weekend we finally got around to installing our kitchen backsplash. I say finally because we had leftover white subway tiles from our bathroom remodel....

Custom TV Console

Some friends of mine reached out to me wanting a piece of furniture to put their television on. Their space was unique and required a custom piece, so I began by taking measurements and drawing up a few design ideas.

Night Stand Revamp

This cute little night stand was begging for some attention.

The top had a few scratches, but otherwise was in great shape. I love the clean lines of this piece.

Junk in the Trunk is a Week Away!

If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, you have heard me mention this Junk in the Trunk Market...well if you live in the Phoneix area and you love finding cool, vintage home furnishing and antiques than you need to know about Junk in the Trunk. It's a vintage market that happens twice a year in Scottsdale. It was started by two friends, Lindsey and Coley who love all things rusty and it has become a huge success! Reimagined: Chair Makeovers With Slip Covers

As I'm gearing up for the Junk In The Trunk Vintage Market on May 2nd and 3rd, I had a few chairs that needed some attention. I had this little shabby chic chair that was super cute by it's cushion was flattened out to almost nothing and was being held on with Duct Tape...

Hutch Make-Over

It's amazing what a little paint can do to a piece of furniture! I came across this adorable little hutch at a yard sale. It was bright orange (cute but not in my color pallet), so I decided to paint it.

DIY Bathroom Vanity, Bathroom Remodel Part One

Our guest bathroom is very outdated....we are talking like straight out of the mid 70s. So it is past time for a bathroom remodel, but of course we are on a tight budget, so I decided to build the bathroom vanity myself. I looked all over Pinterest for inspiration and came across this idea from Ana White, if you haven't checked out her blog, you should! She has tons of cool, DIY ideas. I didn't follow her plan, but I did look it over to get a step by step idea of how to proceed with mine and what materials she used.

DIY: Reupholstering A Footstool

This is one of the quickest projects I've done in a while! This cute little footstool needed some updating, so I decided to paint the legs and upholster the cushion to bring it up-to-date.

DIY: Painting the Exterior of Our House

This post is from our previous house, but I thought I'd share it anyway. Since we are always on a budget, we decided to paint the exterior of our house, ourselves. That is, with my parents' help of course!

How to Paint a Brick and Stucco Fireplace

One of the coolest features of our house is the double-sided fireplace. It's in the middle of our living area and divides the space into two parts. The kitchen and family room are on one side, and the dinning room and sitting room are on the other.

Antique Rocking Chair Makeover

A friend of mine, from church is having a baby and her shower is this weekend. I thought it would be nice to refurbish a rocking chair and give it to her. I had this antique rocking chair when my daughter was born and I never got around to refinishing it. It was chocolate-brown with an old striped cushion.

Kitchen Remodel Part 1: Painting Kitchen Cabinets

When my husband and I first bought our house, we were determined to update the kitchen as soon as possible. It was the biggest eyesore in the house. Our house was built in the 70s and the kitchen was original (we think!) to that time. It had green countertops, and light honey-colored cabinets....and almond-colored appliances (which we are currently still using). Our budget was enough that we could replace all the cabinets, so we decided on the more cost efficent way of updating - painting the cabinets.

Dinning Room Makeover

Our new house has a really great space for a formal dinning room. Exposed brick on one wall, a stained glass window on the get the idea. I wanted the dinning room to be bold and romantic.

Reclaimed Barn Wood Gate

Some dear friends of mine, asked me to built them a custom gate for their front courtyard after seeing one that I had recently built for our house. I was so excited to get started! First, we went down to Porter Barn Wood, which if you live in the Phoenix-area, it's one of the best/coolest places to buy reclaimed wood for DIY projects. They pretty much go all over the country (mostly in the mid-west I think) and tare down old barns and bring the wood back to Phoenix for people like me to drool over and buy. Love them!

Mid-Century Modern Chair Makeover

I think I have a slight obsession with chairs. I have so many random chairs in my house, the way I think about it, you can never have too many places for people to sit, right? Better too many, than not enough!

Built-In Book Shelves

My husband and I bought our house last May, and since we moved in, I have not been able to figure out how to use this extra room in our living space. We have a double sided fireplace that divides the two main spaces. On one side, we have our family room (with TV) and kitchen and the other side is our dinning room and this extra room which I've been calling the sitting room. After living in the space for a few months, we decided to use the sitting room for entertaining. We spend time in there with a glass of wine (or scotch depending on your preference) with friends after dinner. If it's cold out, we light a fire. But I wanted to take advantage of the space and build a large bookshelf with space for a desk so we can use the space daily too.
